 A small group of economic development representatives gathered recently to welcome and

congratulate McKenzie Weber for opening her new business in downtown Parkston, SD.  A tour

of the elegant facility was conducted and then Teresa Mann of Parkston Commercial Club and

Nancy Larsen of SEFP presented McKenzie with her first dollar of profit while Dr. Mark Werning,

President of Parkston Development Corporation and Duane Tieszen, SEFP Board member

witnessed the event.  Not shown is Lori Cowman, SBDC.

BACKGROUND:  After graduating from Stewart’s School of Cosmetology,

working in the business and building a clientele, McKenzie purchased the

former hardware store on Main Street and renovated it to accomplish some of

her business goals, with the help of family and friends.
