BACKGROUND:  There were two individuals who walked away from the opportunity to purchase the store before the Menno Development Corporation started a “Save the Grocery Store” committee and they began meeting to research what would need to happen.  The Menno Development Corporation gained their 501 C3 status through SEFP assistance and then purchased Ed’s Food Market.  They called for investors and the community stepped up.  A manager was hired and a new Board of Directors was elected.  A USDA Rural Development 9006 Energy Efficiency Grant was written by SEFP, the results of which have not become public. Successful USDA Energy Efficiency Grant Application announced August 27, 2008 online.
